Why are Asbestos-Free Surveys Important?
Prevent Health Risks from Asbestos Exposure
Even in low quantities, asbestos fibers can be hazardous when inhaled, potentially causing severe illnesses such as:

Asbestosis – Scarring of lung tissue that impairs breathing.

Lung Cancer – Increased risk due to long-term asbestos exposure.

Mesothelioma – A rare and aggressive form of cancer affecting the lung lining.
A proper survey helps detect asbestos early and implement necessary precautions before exposure occurs.

Protecting Air Quality and Structural Safety
Asbestos was widely used in construction materials such as insulation, flooring, and roofing. Disturbance of these materials can release dangerous fibers into the air. Asbestos-free surveys help property owners make informed decisions about mitigation strategies, ensuring a safe environment.
Asbestos in Azerbaijan
Asbestos, commonly referred to as ‘Asbest’ in the region, has historically been used in Azerbaijan’s construction and infrastructure projects. Unlike many other countries that have banned asbestos use, Azerbaijan still permits its use in certain applications.
Chrysotile (White Asbestos) is the most prevalent type in the region, often misrepresented as a ‘safe’ asbestos alternative. However, the World Health Organization (WHO) classifies all forms of asbestos as a ‘Grade 1 Carcinogen’—proven to cause cancer.
Types of Asbestos Surveys
AHERA Survey
We use the U.S. EPA Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA) as a guide. This inspection involves a visual assessment of suspected asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) and their condition.
Asbestos Screening
A targeted approach that focuses on specific areas where asbestos is suspected, especially in cases of visible damage or deterioration.
Limited Asbestos Survey
A more detailed investigation of specific building areas, sampling materials to determine asbestos content.
Path of Construction / Pre-Renovation Asbestos Survey
Conducted before renovation or construction activities in areas expected to be disturbed, helping ensure safety and regulatory compliance.
Pre-Demolition Asbestos Survey
A comprehensive evaluation of the entire building, including both interior and exterior components, to identify and safely manage asbestos before demolition.

Our Testing Scope
Identifying Asbestos Types & Levels
We test for Amosite, Chrysotile, Crocidolite, Actinolite, Anthophyllite, and Tremolite fibers.
Methods Used: Polarized Light Microscopy (PLM).
Standards Followed: NIOSH NMAM 9002, EPA/600/R-93/116, HSG248 A-2.
Air Quality & Fiber Analysis
We conduct air sampling to measure fiber levels using the Membrane Filter Method with Phase Contrast Microscopy (PCM).
While this test does not identify specific asbestos types, it confirms fiber presence.
Standards Followed: NIOSH NMAM 7400, HSG248 A-1, MDHS 39/4.
